Clock Repair and Maintenance
Jansens takes our good reputation seriously, and we only want great things said about the repair work we do. Our goal is complete customer satisfaction, so when we overhaul a clock’s movement, it carries a six-month warranty.
Clocks were built to last a lifetime, but like anything mechanical, some small parts such as bushings, clips, cables, pins and washers wear out over time. We rebuild these parts; we don’t just replace them. We repair all types of clocks including cuckoo clocks, mantel clocks, wall clocks, grandfather clocks and battery-operated quartz clocks. We repair rare clocks such as Ansonia China with visible escapements and all French or Crystal Regulator clocks.
Contact Us to make an appointment for an in-home service call anywhere in the Greater St. Louis Metro Area. In-home services include oiling and adjusting your grandfather clock. You can bring your mantel, wall, or cuckoo clock in for repair directly to our store where we will give you a competitive estimate for our work.
Proper Care of Your Heirloom
Like any finely crafted valuable, your clock needs to be taken care of to guarantee years of beauty and function. Metal parts wear down over time, so they need to be kept lubricated to insure long life. It is recommended that your clock movement be oiled every three years from the date of purchase and thoroughly cleaned every 12 to 15 years depending on climatic conditions.
Avoid exposing the clock to direct sunlight and protect it from extreme temperatures and humidity changes. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may fade the finish, and extreme temperature and humidity changes may cause the wood to split or crack. Extremely dry, humid or salty air, heat, or cold may necessitate more frequent servicing.
Check periodically that your clock rests firmly on all four levelers. This is especially important during the first few months if the clock is on carpet. As the clock’s feet settle into the carpet it could become unbalanced, and adjustment to any of the four levelers may be needed.
If you think it might be time to service your clock, contact us and we’ll be happy to talk to you about keeping your heirloom in excellent condition.
